Contact nymphing , also know as tight-line or Euro nymphing is a highly effective method putting your flies where fish are. This technique has gained popularity over the several years and shows no signs of slowing down- it catches fish! Trout Town Flies has developed an afternoon course to introduce anglers to this system and the associated tactics and equipment. The session which is limited to 5 anglers includes:
1-hour lesson on equipment, rigging, flies, leaders and a discussion on the pros and cons of a dedicated nymphing rod/reel.
.5-hour transition (rigging/gearing up) from class to water.
2.5 hours on the water covering casting, control of drifts, utilizing the sighter, hand retrieves, setting, reading the water, use of other techniques (indicators, dry-droppers, streamers) and hopefully a few fish to boot!
Equipment needed: Nymphing specific rods, while ideal, are not necessary. A longer (8.5' or better) rod will do fine for learning the technique. Leaders, indicators and flies available for purchase in the shop. Waders and any other gear needed for an afternoon on the water (rental equipment is also available at Trout Town Flies, please call ahead). 607-290-4107
